A Thought:
Only when enough adults practice and teach children love and
respect at home, in schools, religious congregations, and in our
political and civic life will racial, gender, and religious intolerance
and hate crimes subside in America and the world. - Marian Wright Edelman, from her book Lanterns

Let Us
Pray Together...
Gracious God, make us ever more like you, in love, in
grace, in justice, in compassion. Grant that we would be ever open to
being shaped and changed, molded and grown, so that we better and more
fully reflect your glory and your servanthood. Amen.

President Obama -"the bells of freedom ring out a little louder"
Wednesday, President
Obama signed into law the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate
Crime Prevention Act, critical legislation that strengthens existing
U.S. laws by extending federal hate crime protection in cases where the
victim was targeted because of their sexual orientation, gender,
disability, or gender identity. The new law--which the U.S. Attorney
General Holder called a "civil rights issue that is clearly a
priority"--will also permit federal authorities to assist local
governments in hate crime investigations and increase their capacity
through training programs |
Week 4 -The Amazing Challenge
From
October 11, 2009 (the first day of our 30th year as a MCC church) until
February 13, 2010 (Ash Wednesday) there is the opportunity to journey
through key passages of Scripture that will empower, guide and build a
firm foundation for our faith. Readings will be sent via email and
printed copies will be available to those who request a copy from Rev
Margaret.
Participate each week, look for hidden
opportunities for gift cards, but most of all take time to learn, pray
and strengthen your faith.
